I do expect Santorum to jump into the 2016 Presidential race. The Republican party has a history of the second place man in the Republican primary run again in the next Republican Primary. Ronald Reagan ran in 1976 and lost to Gerald Ford in the Primary. He than ran four years later and won the Republican Primary and the Presidency. George H.W. Bush ran in 1980 and lost to Ronald Reagan in the Republican Primary. He would than be picked to be Reagan's Vice President. After eight years of serving as Vice President, he ran again for President in 1988. He won the Republican Party Primary and went on to defeat Michael Dukakis in the general election. In 1996 Bob Dole won the Republican nomination and than went on to lose the general election to Bill Clinton. Bob Dole ran for President in 1980 and in 1988, both runs he lost in the Republican Primary. John McCain ran for President in 2000 but lost to George W. Bush in the Republican Primary. In 2008 McCain ran again and won the Republican Party Primary. He then went on to lose to Barack Obama in the general election. Most recently was Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney ran for President in 2008 but lost to John McCain in the Primary. Romney than ran in 2012. He won the Republican Party nomination but lost the general election to Barack Obama. If history is correct Rick Santorum would run again in 2016 and be a strong candidate. I feel Santorum will be brushed aside like he was most of the time in the 2012 Republican Primary. In 2016 I expect to have a whole new crop of candidates. These candidates I think will appeal to the Republican Party more than Rick Santorum. Election 2016 is awhile from now, and we will just have to wait to see how the election unfolds.
On Monday Rick Santorum said "I'm open to that possibility," referring to a 2016 Presidential run. Santorum said this when he was on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight."
