On Thursday (1/23/14) Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers from the state of Washington will deliver the Republican Party response to the Presidents State of The Union Address. The Congresswoman is the chairwoman of the House Republican Conference. She is the highest ranking member of the House Republican Party leadership. The State of the Union Address will be on January 28, 2014. The Arizona Republican Party formally censured the 2008 Republican Presidential candidate John McCain on Saturday. They did this because they believe his voting record lines up too much with the liberals. McCain has been known for breaking away from the Republican Party and voting in line with the Democrats. The Republican National Committee on Friday passed rule changes designed reform the GOP presidential nominating process. The new plan will increase penalties against states that hold their primary/caucus before the period designated by the Republican National Committee. The plan will also move the Republican National Convention from the late summer to the early summer. This will all the Republican nominee more time to spend general election funds.
