You probably have heard that the Washington Post posted a cartoon making fun of Ted Cruz and his two daughters. The cartoon showed Cruz’s children as dancing monkeys with him controlling them. People from both sides of aisle came out against this cartoon. Ted Cruz released his own two cartoons in response to his attack by the liberal media.
Almost every single Republican Presidential candidate Trump either attacked or the candidate has attacked Trump. Trump can't pick a Vice Presidential candidate that he has attacked or has attacked him. It would make the ticket look ridiculous. So lets go over the list of candidates that he has attacked or has attacked Trump.
A few weeks back I posted about the possibility of a Trump/Cruz 2016 ticket. Now I want to talk about a Trump/Huckabee 2016 ticket. The list shows that there are four candidates that have not fought with Trump. Trump will not pick Santorum because he is not a strong candidate and will not pick Chris Christie because of his baggage and also their personality's will not work well together. Now of course Trump can pick anybody to be Vice President. However he probably won't pick a Governor or a Senator who endorsed another candidate. Huckabee is a southern conservative and former Governor of Arkansas. He is not part of the Republican establishment and is seen in many aspects as an outsider. Trump and Huckabee seem to have a friendly relationship. Yes Huckabee is not polling very high nationally or polling high in any of the early states. With Huckabee on the ticket it would bring a different personality to the ticket, a qualified Governor who could be President, and a candidate who is well known who does have a following when Ted Cruz and Ben Carson are not taking it. Huckabee also does well in the debates. He knows the issues and comes up with some pretty good lines. The basic point I want to make here is that out of all the candidates running for President only Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee could be Vice President. Mike Huckabee Wearing Trump Tie During Republican DebateBased on the debate criteria released by Fox Business for the upcoming debate on January 14, 2016, Rand Paul would be excluded from the main stage because he does not meet the requirements. Rand Paul says the only debate he would want to participate in is the main debate not the undercard debate. Senator Paul said, “It’s the kids’ table, and at that table you’re not considered to be a competitor, not considered to be having a chance." The following was taken from Politico: Paul maintained he could make the big stage. He's just 0.3 points below the criteria, he said, and it would be illogical to exclude someone who's within the margin of error. “But, frankly, if we beat Chris Christie by 0.3 and he’s excluded, as much as I disagree with him politically I think that’s a mistake,” Paul said. “The same way with Fiorina. There’s no reason why people should be told that they have no chance with three weeks to go.” Dick Morris explains why the 2016 Republican Presidential primary will be over by March and we will know who the nominee will be. Fox Business released the criteria their Charleston Republican debate that will be held on January 14, 2016. There are three possible ways for a candidate to make the main debate stage. A candidate must meet one of the three requirements. To be on the main debate stage a candidate can be in top six nationally in an average of the five most recent live telephone polls, or be in the top five in Iowa or the top five in New Hampshire in an average of the five most recent live telephone polls from those states. As of today, the following six candidates would be on the main debate stage:
Those six candidates are the top six polling candidates nationally. Also the top five candidates in Iowa and New Hampshire are made of these candidates as well. John Kasich could possible make this debate if his polls a little higher in New Hampshire to gain the fifth place spot in the state which is currently being held by Jeb Bush. It seems at most the main debate stage will have seven candidates. There also will be a undercard debate. To qualify for this debate candidates must poll at least 1% in the five most recent national polls.
There are three ways to qualify for the prime time debate being held on December 15.
This is the first time that polls from Iowa and New Hampshire will be used to determine if a candidate is in the debate. The polls that have been released between October 29 - December 13 will be used by CNN to determine the candidates that will be in the debate. If a poll is released on December 13, it must be released by 5 pm. There will also be an under card debate. If a candidate fails to make the prime time debate they could be in the under card debate as long as the candidate reaches at least 1% in four separate Iowa, New Hampshire or national polls. Could the 2016 Republican Presidential ticket be Trump/Cruz? Well if Donald Trump is the nominee which it seems very possible right now he would select Ted Cruz as the Vice President. According to Lifezette, when asked about Ted Cruz being Vice President, Donald Trump told them “Ted Cruz is now agreeing with me 100 percent.” He also told Laura Ingraham that he likes him. However Trump stated on Monday that if Ted Cruz came close to Trump in the polls he would have to start attacking him. Unlike the other 2016 candidates, Cruz is one of the only candidates that has not attacked Trump yet. You can read more about Cruz being Vice President on thehill.com. Yesterday on Fox News Bobby Jindal made the surprising announcement that he will be suspending his campaign for President. Jindal's campaign was seen as a long shot campaign. Jindal told Bret Baier that “the reality is this isn’t my time.” Nationally Bobby Jindal was always polling in the low single digits, sometime even below 1%. Jindal based his whole campaign on doing well in Iowa, the Real Clear Politics Iowa average had him polling at 3.3% which was seventh place. With Jindal out of the race it leaves 14 Republican candidates left. Donald Trump Crushing Opponents, Marco Rubio And Ted Cruz On Rise In Latest 2016 New Hampshire Poll11/16/2015 Election 2016 Gravis Marketing New Hampshire Republican Presidential Primary Poll
Gravis Marketing asked 330 registered Republican primary voters for this poll. The poll was conducted on November 11, 2015. The margin of error is ± 5.4%. A few points should be made about this poll, Donald Trump continues to hold a strong lead in New Hampshire. This poll shows him with a 17 point lead over the other candidates. This is the strongest showing out of any state for Donald Trump. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio both made large gains in the state. In a previous Gravis Marketing poll, Rubio was at 8% and Cruz was at 5%. Jeb Bush has been consistent in the high single digits. These are disappointing numbers for Bush seeing that he has spent million on ads in this state. Chris Christie also has seen a bump in the polls, going from 3% to 8% in the latest Gravis poll. Basically all the other candidates have went down in the polls in New Hampshire or have stayed relatively the same.
Iowa Republican Congressman Steve King today announced his endorsement of Texas Senator Ted Cruz for President. He made this announcement at a press conference and through a video.
Steve King said, "I believe Ted Cruz is the candidate that's the answer to my prayers." He also stated about Ted Cruz, "A candidate whom God will use to restore the soul of America." The strength of Congressman King endorsement is still unknown. Steve King is a very popular and strong principled conservative and getting his endorsement is important for the Iowa Caucus which is the first Presidential primary contest for the election season. Iowa tends to make or break a campaign for President, Ted Cruz really has to do well in Iowa to keep his campaign moving. It should be noted that Steve King endorsed Fred Thompson in 2008 and remained neutral in 2012. In 2008 Mike Huckabee won the Iowa Caucus and Rick Santorum won Iowa in 2012. Both are running for President this year but are polling poorly. Ted Cruz posted the following on Facebook, his post also included the video of the endorsement.
